MONTEREY
COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled
road and lane closures for the areas between Salinas and North Monterey
County from Sunday, May 19, through Sunday,
May 26, 2013– newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is
weather-dependent.
Highway 1/Rocky Creek Viaduct Project: May 20
– May 24
- Daytime
roadwork on Highway 1 continues next week from 7 am to 5 pm Monday,
May 20 through Friday, May 24.
- There be NO FULL OVERNIGHT
closures next week
- There WILL be
NIGHT ROADWORK from Monday, May 20 - Thursday, May 23 (Friday 7am)
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 1 at Rocky Creek has
one-way signalized traffic control 24/7. Traffic will be stopped for 10 minutes
at a time during daytime roadwork.
Highway 1 through Big Sur:
May 20 – May 22
- Crews
will be conducting tree work along the Big Sur coast between Pfeiffer
Burns State Park and Hurricane Point between the hours of 8 p.m. and 3
a.m.
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway
1/North of Moss Landing: May 22 – May 24
- Crews
will be conducting grinding operations at Springfield Road North of Moss
Landing between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.
Highway 1/ Salinas Road to Watsonville: May 22– May 23
- Daytime work on Highway 1, from
Salinas Road to the Santa Cruz County Line, will result in alternating
lane closures—northbound and southbound—between 7:30 am and 4:00 p.m.
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.
*Prunedale Improvement Project Lane Switch on
Hwy 101: May 22*
- Traffic
will be switched on southbound Highway 101 to a new alignment that will
take the traffic over the Russell/Espinosa intersection in North Salinas
- There
will be no more right turns from southbound 101 to Espinosa Road
- The traffic switch will occur after 10:00 pm on Wednesday, May 22

Motorists can expect delays between Boronda Road
and Ralph Lane
Prunedale
Improvement Project Lane Closure @ Russell/Espinosa: May 20
- Northbound Highway 101 will be reduced to one lane on
May 20 between Russell/Espinosa
and Ralph Lane from hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes
Prunedale Improvement Project at Ralph Lane:
May 23
- Crews will restripe Hwy 101 at Ralph Lane and Highway
101 on Thursday, May 23
- The new double-yellow line means that left turns and
U-turns across Highway 101 will not be legal.
- This is a permanent change
- To travel south on Hwy 101 from Ralph Lane motorists
will need to:
- Turn right on Hwy. 101
- Turn right on to Reese Circle
- Turn right on to the Prunedale South Road overpass
- Turn right on Blackie Rd.
- Turn right on to southbound Hwy. 101
Prunedale Improvement Project at Crazy Horse
Canyon: May 20 - 24
- Night work continues at Crazy
Horse Canyon Road from Monday, May 20, to Friday, May 24.
- Crews will be moving equipment and removing bridge falsework.
San Juan Road Interchange Traffic Crossover: May 19 – May
24
· Temporary
traffic crossover on Hwy. 101, between Dunbarton Road and Cole Road, beginning
the night of Sunday, May 19
· Southbound
Highway 101 traffic will be moved onto the northbound side of the highway for
one week, between May 19 and May 23
· The
crossovers will take place overnight, between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
· Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15
minutes
South County Highway 198: May 20 – May 24
· Highway construction between the hours of
7:00 a.m. and 5 p.m., from Monday, May 20, to Friday, May 24.
· Motorists can expect delays of
approximately 5 minutes
Blackie Road Safety Improvement Project: May 20 – May 24
· Roadway construction continues between
Borromeo Drive to approximately one mile west of Borromeo Drive going to
Castroville
· Blackie Road will be open to emergency
vehicles, school buses, local residents and patrons of local businesses
· Motorists can expect delays of
approximately 30 minutes.
Laureles Grade: May 20 – May 24
- Crews will be conducting
pavement work between along Laureles Grade between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
