Road and Lane Closures For May 12 - May 19

MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for the areas between Salinas and North Monterey County from Sunday, May 12, through Sunday, May 19, 2013– newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1/Rocky Creek Viaduct Project:  May 12  – May 17

  • Daytime roadwork on Highway 1 continues next week from 7 am to 5 pm Monday, May 13 through Friday, May 17.
  • There will be ONE NIGHT of work and FULL overnight closure next week—Thursday, May 16 from 9 pm to 7 am Friday, May 17
The closure is needed to shift traffic onto the completed portion of the viaduct.

Highway 1 at Rocky Creek has one-way signalized traffic control 24/7. Traffic will be stopped for 10 minutes at a time during daytime roadwork.

Highway 1/ Anderson Canyon Bridge:  May 13 – May 17

·         Crews will be repairing pavement between Anderson Canyon Bridge and Castro Canyon Bridge between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
·         Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes

Highway 1/ Lime Creek Bridge:  May 13 – May 16

·         Crews will be conducting shoulder work between Lime Creek Bridge and Burns Creek Bridge between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
·         Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes

Highway 1 at Little Sur River Bridge/Hurricane Point:  May 13 – May 17

·         Crews will be conducting pavement work between Sur River Bridge and Hurricane Point between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
·         Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes

Highway 1/North of Moss Landing: May 13 – May 17

  • Crews will be conducting grinding operations at Springfield Road North of Moss Landing between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.
Highway 1/ Salinas Road to Watsonville:  May 13 – May 17

  • Daytime work on Highway 1, from Salinas Road to the Santa Cruz County Line, will result in alternating lane closures—northbound and southbound—between 8:30 am and 3:00 pm on Monday, May 13, to Friday, May 17.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.
Highway 101 South of Salinas: May 15 - May 17

  • Crews will be conducting pavement work between Esperanza Road and Gould Road between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
*Prunedale Improvement Project Lane Switch at Russell/Espinosa: May 13*

  • Traffic will be switched on northbound Highway 101 to a new alignment that will take the traffic over the Russell/Espinosa intersection in North Salinas
  • There will be no more left turns from Northbound 101 to Espinosa Road
  • The traffic switch will occur after 10:00 pm on Monday May 13
  • Motorists can expect delays between Boronda Road and Ralph Lane
Prunedale Improvement Project at Crazy Horse Canyon: May 13 - 17

  • Night continues at Crazy Horse Canyon Road from Monday, May 13, to Friday, May 17.
  • Crews will be moving equipment and removing bridge falsework.

San Juan Road Interchange – Rocks/Cannon Road to Dunbarton: May 12 – May 17

·        Highway construction between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m., from Sunday, May 12, to Friday, May 17.
·        Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes

South County Highway 198: May 13 – May 17

·         Highway construction between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5 p.m., from Monday, May 13, to Friday, May 17.
·         Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes

Blackie Road Safety Improvement Project: May 13 – May 17

·        Roadway construction between Borromeo Drive to approximately one mile west of Borromeo Drive going to Castroville from May 13 to September 13
·        Blackie Road will be open to emergency vehicles, school buses, local residents and patrons of local businesses
·       Motorists can expect delays of approximately 30 minutes.

Laureles Grade: May 13 – May 17

  • Crews will be conducting pavement work between along Laureles Grade between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
