New
alignment will take all Hwy. 101 traffic over Russell and Espinosa Roads
The next phase of Caltrans’ Prunedale Improvement Project will make travel
through the intersection where Russell and Espinosa Roads used to cross Highway
101 much safer. On Wednesday, May 22, Caltrans will move southbound Hwy. 101
traffic on to the new alignment that takes all
Hwy. 101 traffic up and over Russell and Espinosa Roads.
The
traffic switch will happen after 10 p.m. on May 22.
In
addition to moving all Hwy 101 traffic on to the new alignment, Caltrans will
also open the new Sala Road interchange. The new interchange will allow
motorists on northbound Hwy 101 to
exit on to Sala Road, turn right on to Harrison Road, and access Russell and
Espinosa Roads safely. Travelers on southbound
Hwy 101 will need to go to Boronda Road, turn left on Boronda Road, and left on
Main St. to access Russell Road and Espinosa.
This
traffic switch will allow Granite Construction and MCM Construction, Caltrans’
contractors for the Prunedale Improvement Project, to complete work on the
southbound Hwy. 101 overcrossing, which will be finished later this year.
The
following day, Thursday, May 23, crews will re-stripe Hwy 101 at Ralph Lane,
adding a double-yellow line to prohibit left and U-turns across the highway.
To travel
south on Hwy 101 from Ralph Lane motorists will need to:
- Turn
right on Hwy. 101
- Turn
right on to Reese Circle
- Turn
right on to the Prunedale South Road overpass
- Turn
right on Blackie Rd.
- Turn
right on to southbound Hwy. 101
