Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, March 30, through Sunday, April 6, 2014 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Abbott Street – Salinas:  Mar. 31
  • Daytime repairs and Seal Coat preparation on Abbott Street will result in traffic control and possible lane closures between Harris Road and Highway 101 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 20 minutes.
Blanco Road – Salinas to Marina:  Apr. 1 – Apr. 11
  • Daytime repairs and Seal Coat preparation on Blanco Road will result in traffic control and possible lane closures between Reservation Road and Luther Way from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 20 minutes.
Highway 1 – Big Sur:  Apr. 1 – Apr. 4
  • Daytime drainage work and vegetation spraying on Highway 1 between Lime Creek Bridge and Garrapata Creek Bridge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 1 – Carmel Highlands:  Apr. 1 – Apr. 2
  • Daytime shoulder work on southbound Highway 1between Arroyo Del Mar and Spindrift Road (North) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 68 – Monterey:  Sewer Repair Project from Mar. 10 – Apr. 18
  • Daytime shoulder work on westbound Highway 68 from Highway 218 (Canyon Del Rey Boulevard) to the Calvary Chapel driveway will close the westbound shoulder between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Intermittent night work will also close a westbound lane between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
  • Single lane traffic controls will be in effect during these night hours.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 68 – Pacific Grove:  Apr. 3
  • Daytime sweeping on Highway 68 from Pacific Grove to the Division of Forestry between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Gonzales and Soledad:  Mar. 31 – Apr. 4
  • Daytime median barrier work on Highway 101 from La Gloria Road to Arroyo Seco Road will result in alternating lane closures—northbound and southbound—between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Salinas:  Apr. 2 – Apr. 4
  • Daytime shoulder work on southbound Highway 101 from Potter Road to Airport Blvd between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Prunedale Improvement Project: Mar. 30 – Apr. 4
  • Nighttime work will result in alternating lane closures on northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Vierra Canyon Road and Crazy Horse Canyon Road from 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

Highway 1 – Multiple Locations:  Mar. 24 – Mar. 28
  • Daytime drainage work, pavement repair, and vegetation spraying at two locations along Highway 1 between from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Locations are:
    • Plaskett Camp Road to Rain Rock: Paving.
    • Lime Creek Bridge to Garrapata Creek Bridge: Drainage work and vegetation spraying.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 1 – Monterey:  Mar. 24 and Mar. 27
  • Daytime guardrail repair along Highway 1 at two locations from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Locations are;
    • Southbound at Casa Verde Way: Monday March 24
    • Northbound  at Fremont Street: Thursday March 27
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 68 – Monterey:  Sewer Repair Project from Mar. 10 – Apr. 18
  • Daytime shoulder work on westbound Highway 68 from Highway 218 (Canyon Del Rey Boulevard) to the Calvary Chapel driveway will close the westbound shoulder between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

  • Daytime electrical work at along northbound Highway 1 from Handley Drive to Carpenter Street between from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.

ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES FOR MAR 9 - MAR 16


Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, March 9, through Sunday, March 16, 2014 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1 – South Coast:  Mar. 10 – Mar. 14
  • Daytime crack and seal work on Highway 1 from the San Luis Obispo County Line to Redwood Gulch between 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 1 and Highway 68 – Tree Removal at Five Locations:  Mar. 10 – Mar. 14
Five tree removal projects along Highways 1 and Highway 68 will take place Monday, March 10 through Friday, March 14 in the following locations:

  1. Southbound Hwy. 1: Peter Pan Rd in Carmel Highlands on:
·         Monday, March 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
·         Southbound closure with one-way traffic control with flagging
·         10-15 minute delays are anticipated.

  1. Northbound Hwy. 1: Valley Way near Carpenter in Carmel:
·         Tuesday, March 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
·         Northbound #2 (slow) lane closure with possible traffic delineation to get crane through
·         Up to 30 minute delays are anticipated. CHP will assist with traffic control.

  1. Northbound Hwy. 1:  just past the Hwy. 68 (Holman Hwy) connector near Pacific Grove:
·         Wednesday, March 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
·         Northbound #2 (slow) lane closure, one lane to remain open
·         20-25 minute delays are anticipated. CHP will assist with traffic control.

 
** SPECIAL NOTE: BIG SUR, CARMEL, CARMEL VALLEY AND CARMEL HIGHLANDS RESIDENTS TRAVELLING THIS AREA ARE STRONGLY ADVISED TO USE LAURELES GRADE.

  1. Southbound Hwy. 1 to Westbound Hwy. 68: OFF-RAMP to Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) and 17-Mile Drive/Pacific Grove:
·         Thursday, March 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
·         Southbound Hwy. 1 to Westbound Hwy. 68 off-ramp closure
·         20-25 minute delays are anticipated. CHP will assist with traffic control.

**THERE WILL BE LIMITED ACCESS FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES ONLY AT THE START OF THE OFF-RAMP CLOSURE. Detour will be Carpenter to Northbound hwy. 1. (CHOMP) traffic is advised to plan their trips with the 20-25 minute delays.**

  1. Eastbound Hwy. 68 (Holman Hwy.) at lower 17-Mile Drive and Congress Avenue in Pacific Grove:
·         Friday, March 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
·         Eastbound Hwy. 68 closure with one-way traffic control with flagging.
·         10-15 minute delays are anticipated.

NOTE: There will be Electronic Message Boards alerting motorists and the CHP will assist with traffic control.
