Here
are the major scheduled road and
lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday,
March 9, through Sunday, March 16, 2014 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is
weather-dependent.
Highway 1 – South Coast: Mar. 10 – Mar. 14
- Daytime crack and seal work on
Highway 1 from the San Luis Obispo County Line to Redwood Gulch between 8
a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 1 and Highway 68 – Tree Removal at Five
Locations: Mar. 10 – Mar. 14
Five tree removal projects along
Highways 1 and Highway 68 will take place Monday, March 10 through Friday,
March 14 in the following locations:
- Southbound Hwy. 1: Peter Pan Rd in Carmel Highlands on:

Monday, March 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
·
Southbound closure with one-way traffic control with flagging
·
10-15 minute delays are
anticipated.
- Northbound Hwy. 1: Valley Way near Carpenter in Carmel:
·
Tuesday, March 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
·
Northbound #2 (slow) lane closure with possible traffic delineation
to get crane through
·
Up to 30 minute delays are
anticipated. CHP will assist with traffic control.
- Northbound Hwy. 1: just past the Hwy. 68 (Holman Hwy) connector near Pacific Grove:

Wednesday, March 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
·
Northbound #2 (slow) lane closure, one lane to remain open
·
20-25 minute delays are
anticipated. CHP will assist with traffic control.
** SPECIAL NOTE: BIG SUR, CARMEL,
CARMEL VALLEY AND CARMEL HIGHLANDS RESIDENTS TRAVELLING THIS AREA ARE STRONGLY
ADVISED TO USE LAURELES GRADE.
- Southbound Hwy. 1 to Westbound Hwy. 68: OFF-RAMP to Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) and 17-Mile Drive/Pacific Grove:

Thursday, March 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
·
Southbound Hwy. 1 to Westbound Hwy. 68 off-ramp closure
·
20-25 minute delays are
anticipated. CHP will assist with traffic control.
**THERE WILL BE LIMITED ACCESS FOR EMERGENCY
VEHICLES ONLY AT THE START OF THE OFF-RAMP CLOSURE. Detour will be
Carpenter to Northbound hwy. 1. (CHOMP) traffic is advised to plan their trips
with the 20-25 minute delays.**
- Eastbound Hwy. 68 (Holman Hwy.) at lower 17-Mile Drive and Congress Avenue in Pacific Grove:

Friday, March 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
·
Eastbound Hwy. 68 closure with one-way traffic control with
flagging.
·
10-15 minute delays are
anticipated.
NOTE: There will be Electronic
Message Boards alerting motorists and the CHP will assist with traffic control.
Highway 68 – Monterey:
Sewer Repair Project from Mar. 10 – Apr. 18
- Daytime shoulder work on
westbound Highway 68 from Highway 218 (Canyon Del Rey Boulevard) to the
Calvary Chapel driveway will close the westbound shoulder between the
hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
- Intermittent night work will
also close a westbound lane between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
- Single lane traffic controls
will be in effect during these night hours.
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 68 – Salinas:
Mar. 10 – Mar. 14
- Daytime utility work on
westbound Highway 68 from San Miguel Avenue to San Joaquin Street between
the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.
Highway 101 – King City and Greenfield: Mar. 10 – Mar. 14
- Daytime guardrail repairs on
Highway 101 at two locations between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
- The locations are:
- First Street to San Lorenzo
Creek Bridge
- Lagomarsino
Avenue to Hobson Avenue
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.
Highway 101 – Gonzales and Soledad: Mar. 10 – Mar. 14
- Daytime survey, median barrier,
shoulder, and striping work on Highway 101 from La Gloria Road to Arroyo Seco Road will result in alternating lane
closures—northbound and southbound—between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Chualar and Salinas: Mar. 10 – Mar. 14
- Daytime shoulder work on northbound
Highway 101 at two locations between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
- The locations are:
- Alta Street/Old Stage Road to
Main Street/Chualar
Street
- Hartnell
Road to Gould Road
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Prunedale Improvement Project: Mar. 10 – Mar.
14
- Nighttime work will result in
alternating lane closures on northbound and southbound Highway 101 at two
locations from 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- The locations are:
- Between Vierra Canyon Road and
Tustin Road
- Between Espinosa Road and
Ralph Lane
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Prunedale: Mar. 11
- One day guardrail repairs on
northbound Highway 101 from Dunbarton Road to Echo Valley Road between 9
a.m. and 2 p.m.
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – San Juan Road Interchange: Mar.
10 – Mar. 14
- Night
work on Highway 101 will cause alternating lane closures on northbound and
southbound Highway 101 between Dunbarton
Road and Rocks / Cannon Road from 7:30 p.m.
and 6 a.m.
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
