Road and lane closures for Oct. 20 - Oct. 27


Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, October 20, through Sunday, October 27, 2013 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1/Rocky Creek Viaduct Project:  Oct. 21 – Oct. 25
  • Daytime roadwork on Highway 1 continues next week from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 25.
  • There will be no overnight work or overnight closures scheduled from Sunday, Oct. 20 through Thursday, Oct. 24.
Highway 1 at Rocky Creek has one-way signalized traffic control 24/7. Traffic will be stopped for 10 minutes at a time during daytime and nighttime roadwork.

Highway 1 – Ocean Avenue:  Oct. 21 – Oct. 25
  • Night time drainage work on southbound Highway 1 at Ocean Avenue from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.     
Highway 1 – Monterey:  Oct. 20
  • One-day shoulder work on Highway. 1 between Carpenter Street and Del Monte Avenue from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.
Highway 1 – Monterey:  Oct. 20 – End of November
  • Night time pavement work continues on 12 on/off-ramps along Highway. 1 from State Route 68 (East) to State Route 68 (West) 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • On/off ramps to be paved include:
    • State Route 68 (west), both directions;
    • Munras Ave., both directions;
    • Soledad Dr.,both directions;
    • Aguajito Rd, both directions; .
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 20 minutes.
Highway 1 – Seaside:  Oct. 20 – 25
  • Night time bridge work on Highway 1 at Sand Dunes Drive from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 20 through Friday, Oct. 25.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Gonzales and Soledad:  Oct. 20 – Oct. 25

  • Daytime paving and drainage work on Highway 101 from La Gloria Road to Arroyo Seco Road will result in alternating lane closures—northbound and southbound—between 5:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Night time paving and survey work on Highway 101 from La Gloria Road to Arroyo Seco Road will result in alternating lane closures—northbound and southbound—between 6 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Prunedale Improvement Project – Multiple Locations:  Oct. 21 – Oct. 25
  • Nighttime work on Highway 101 in Prunedale will result in alternating lane closures—northbound and southbound—between 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
    • Locations are:
      • Vierra Canyon Road to San Miguel Canyon Road for Miscellaneous work.
      • Messick Road to Crazy Horse Canyon Road for Median Barrier work.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
San Juan Road Project: Oct. 22 – Oct. 23
  • Day time work on San Juan Road will close one lane between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Flaggers will direct traffic.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.
Highway 218– Seaside:  Oct. 21– Oct. 25
  • Daytime paving on Highway 218 between Del Monte Blvd and Amador Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.
