ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES FOR JUNE 29 - JULY 6



Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, June 29, through Sunday, July 6, 2014 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1 – Big Sur Coast: July 1 – July 2
  • Daytime drainage work along Highway 1 between Lime Creek Bridge and Castro Canyon Bridge from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.
Highway 1 – Big Sur: July 1 – July 2
  • Daytime paving along Highway 1 between the Juan Higuera Creek Bridge and the Andrew Molera Park entrance from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes
Highway 1 – Big Sur: July 1 – July 2
  • Daytime shoulder work along Highway 1 between Hurricane Point and Palo Colorado from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes
Highway 1 – Carmel Highlands: July 1 – July 2
  • Daytime drainage work along Highway 1 between Granite Canyon Bridge and Arroyo Del Mar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 1 – Seaside: June 30
  • Electrical work on the northbound Highway 1 off-ramp at Sand Dunes Drive from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 68 – Monterey: June 30 – July 2
  • Nighttime shoulder work on westbound Highway 68 between Route 218 and Olmsted Road from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Highway 101 – Bradley: July 2
  • Daytime bridge work on the northbound Highway 101 off-ramp at Jolon Road from 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.
Highway 101 – Salinas to the San Benito County Line: June 30 – July 3
  • Daytime sweeping along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Airport Boulevard and the San Benito County Line from 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Prunedale Improvement Project: June 29 – July 3
  • Night work will result in alternating lane closures on northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Vierra Canyon Road and Crazy Horse Canyon Road between 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 198 – San Lucas: June 30 – July 3
  • Daytime guardrail repair along Highway 198 between the Fresno County Line and Highway 25 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes

U.S. HIGHWAY 101 POTHOLE REPAIR NEAR THE RED BARN TOMORROW



An emergency pothole repair project will take place in both directions of U.S. Highway 101 at San Juan Road on Thursday, June 26 in the following locations.

·         The southbound No. 2 lane of U.S. Highway 101 will be closed at San Juan Road      
     from 10 am until 11 am for pothole repair.

·         The northbound No. 2 lane of U.S. Highway 101 will also be closed at San Juan Road from 11 am until 12 noon for pothole repair.
 
Motorists can expect a delay not to exceed 10 minutes.  Message signs will be posted to advise motorists about this roadwork.

This roadwork is being performed to ensure a smooth ride for motorists near the Prunedale Improvement Project (PIP).

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.

CASTROVILLE BLVD OVERLAY PROJECT TO BEGIN MONDAY, JUNE 23RD



The Monterey County Resource Management Agency - Public Works announces that construction work for the Castroville Boulevard Overlay Project between State Route 156 and San Miguel Canyon Road will start June 23, 2014.  The project, which is expected to last three months, will consist of grinding and overlying existing pavement. 

When in full swing, the project’s construction activities will require temporary traffic control measure to be implemented, including lane closures.  Local residents, school buses, and emergency vehicles will continue to have access to Castroville Boulevard during the construction period.  However, motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route, such as State Route 156, during the construction period.

The Castroville Boulevard overlay project has a construction cost of $1,281,421, and is funded by Transient Occupancy Tax revenue.                  

The Don Chapin Company, from Salinas, California, was awarded the construction contract for this project.

  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

  • Daytime paving along Highway 1 between the Ventana Entrance and the Andrew Molera Park entrance from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Daytime maintenance along Highway 1 between Granite Canyon Bridge and Ocean Avenue from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Daytime maintenance along Highway 68 between Asilomar and Highway 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 101 – King City and Greenfield: June 23 – 27
  • Daytime tree removal along southbound Highway 101 between Lagomarsino Avenue and Central Avenue from 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
