ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES FOR MAY 4 - MAY 11



Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, May 4, through Sunday, May 11, 2014 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1 – Big Sur Coast: May 5 – May 9
  • Daytime drainage work and vegetation spraying along Highway 1 between Lime Creek Bridge and Garrapata Creek Bridge from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 68 – Pacific Grove:  May 8
  • Daytime paving on Highway 68 between Syida Drive and Samuel F B Morse Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 68 – Monterey:  May 5 – May 9
·         Night time utility work on Highway 68 between Josselyn Canyon Road and Torero Drive from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.
Highway 198: May 5 – May 9
·         Daytime tree work on Highway 198 between Route 25 and the Fresno County Line from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Prunedale Improvement Project: May 5 – May 9
  • Night time construction on Highway 101 will result in temporary closures of Highway 101 at the Crazy Horse Canyon Road Overpass with traffic shifted onto the on-ramps and off-ramps between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • The closures will only affect one direction each night.
  • The closures are:
    • Monday, May 5: Southbound Highway 101: southbound traffic to use interchange ramps.
    • Tuesday, May 6: Northbound Highway 101: northbound traffic to use interchange ramps.
    • Wednesday, May 7: Southbound Highway 101: southbound traffic to use interchange ramps.
    • Thursday, May 8: Southbound Highway 101: southbound traffic to use interchange ramps.
  • Flaggers will be in place to control traffic and allow drivers to access Crazy Horse Canyon Road and Echo Valley Road
  • The lane closures are necessary to allow crews to install new drainage for the highway.
  •  Motorists should expect delays and plan for extra travel time.
