ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES FOR MAY 31 - JUNE 8



***Highway 1 – Moss Landing: May 31***
  • Daytime pavement work on southbound Highway 1 at Jetty Road from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • There will be alternating one-way traffic control.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 20 minutes
Highway 1 – South Coast: June 2 – June 6
  • Daytime slide removal along Highway 1 between the San Luis Obispo County line and Grey Slip from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.
Highway 1 – Big Sur Coast: June 2 – June 6
  • Daytime drainage work and vegetation spraying along Highway 1 between Lime Creek Bridge and Garrapata Creek Bridge from 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 1 – Big Sur Coast: June 4 – June 6
  • Daytime paving at three locations along Highway 1 in Big Sur from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Locations are:
    • Between the Torre Canyon Bridge and Grimes Canyon on Wednesday, June 4.
    • Between Hurricane Point and Bixby Bridge on Thursday, June 5.
    • Between the Ventana Entrance and the Post Office on Friday, June 6.
  • There will be alternating one-way traffic control for each location.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes 
Highway 1 – Monterey: June 4 – June 6
  • Night time bridge work will close the southbound Highway 1 on-ramp at Fremont Street from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 1 – Monterey: June 3 – June 4
  • Daytime bridge and pavement work on northbound and southbound Highway 1 at Del Monte Avenue from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Northbound work will be on Tuesday, June 3 and southbound work on Wednesday, June 4.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 1 – Sand City: June 2
  • Daytime work on northbound Highway 1 at Tioga Avenue from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 68 – Monterey: June 2 – June 5
  • Night time utility work on Highway 68 between Josselyn Canyon Road and Torero Drive from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.
Highway 101 – King City and Greenfield: June 2 – June 6
  • Daytime tree removal along southbound Highway 101 between Lagomarsino Avenue and Central Avenue from 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Prunedale Improvement Project: June 1 – June 6
  • Night work will result in alternating lane closures on northbound and southbound Highway 101 between at three locations from 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • The locations are:
    • Between Boronda Road and Martines Road
    • Between Vierra Canyon Road and Tustin Road
    • Between Mallory Canyon Road and Echo Valley Road.
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
San Juan Road Interchange: June 5 – June 6
  • Night work on Highway 101 will cause alternating lane closures on northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Dunbarton Road and Rocks / Cannon Road from 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Crews will be moving K-Rail and working on the permanent median barrier.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES FOR MAY 25 - JUNE 2



Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, May 25, through Sunday, June 1, 2014 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1 – South Coast: May 27 – May 28
  • Daytime slide removal along Highway 1 between the San Luis Obisbo County line and the Salmon Creek Arch Culvert from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.
Highway 1 – Big Sur Coast: May 27 – May 30
  • Daytime drainage work and vegetation spraying along Highway 1 between Lime Creek Bridge and Garrapata Creek Bridge from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 1 – Carmel Highlands: May 27 – May 30
  • Daytime sewer work on Highway 1 at Highland Drive from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • There will be alternating one-way traffic control.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 1 – Monterey: May 28 – May 29
  • Daytime pavement on northbound and southbound Highway 1 at Del monte Avenue from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Northbound work will be on Wednesday, May 28, and southbound work on Thursday, May 29.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 68 – Monterey: May 27 – May 30
  • Night time utility work on Highway 68 between Josselyn Canyon Road and El Toro Golf Club from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Highway 68 – Monterey: May 27 – May 29
  • Night time K-rail installation on Highway 68 between Canyon Del Rey and Olmsted Road from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Highway 101 – Bradley: May 28
  • Daytime bridge work on the northbound Highway 101 Jolon Road off-ramp from 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Espinosa Road: May 27 & May 29
  • Night time removal of K-rail will result in alternating lane closures on Espinosa Road at the Highway 101 uncrossing from 9 a p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27.
  • Daytime paving will result in will result in alternating lane closures on Espinosa Road at the Highway 101 uncrossing from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 29.
  • Flaggers will be directing traffic.
  • Motorists should expect delays and plan for extra travel time.

Highway 101 – Prunedale Improvement Project: San Miguel Canyon Road: May 27 – May 30
  • Night work on Highway 101 will result in alternating lane closures between Vierra Canyon Road and Tustin Road from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Prunedale Improvement Project: Crazy Horse Canyon Road: May 27 – May 30
  • Night time construction on Highway 101 will result in temporary closures of Highway 101 at the Crazy Horse Canyon Road Overpass between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. 
  • The closures are:
    • Tuesday, May 27: Southbound Highway 101: southbound traffic to use interchange ramps.
    • Wednesday, May 28: southbound Highway 101 on-ramp.
    • Thursday, May 30: alternating lane closures
  • Drivers traveling from Crazy Horse Canyon Road to southbound Highway 101 should detour to Echo Valley Road and San Miguel Canyon Road on the night of Wednesday, May 28.
  • Flaggers will be in place to control traffic and allow drivers to access Crazy Horse Canyon Road and Echo Valley Road during the highway closure.  
  • The lane closures are necessary to allow crews to install new drainage for the highway.
  • Motorists should expect delays and plan for extra travel time.

ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES FOR MAY 18 - MAY 25



Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, May 18, through Sunday, May 25, 2014 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1 – Big Sur Coast: May 19 – May 23
  • Daytime drainage work and vegetation spraying along Highway 1 between Lime Creek Bridge and Garrapata Creek Bridge from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 1 – Carmel: May 19
  • Daytime tree removal on southbound Highway 1 will close the right hand turn pocket at Ocean Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Caltrans will be controlling traffic.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 1 – Seaside: May 21 – 22
  • Daytime pavement repair will result in lane closures on the Highway 1 / Fremont Street interchange from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • The closures are:
    • Northbound on-ramp #2 (slow) lane Wednesday, May 21.
    • Southbound off-ramp, all lanes, Thursday, May 22.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes
  • THERE WILL BE ELECTRONIC MESSAGE BOARDS ALERTING MOTORISTS AND THE CHP WILL ASSIST WITH TRAFFIC CONTROL (TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY).
Highway 1 – Moss Landing: May 19
  • Daytime pavement repair will result in the closure of northbound Highway 1 near Struve Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control will be in effect.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 40 minutes
  • MOTORISTS ARE STRONGLY ADVISED TO AVOID THE ABOVE LOCATION IN MOSS LANDING DURING THIS CLOSURE
  
Highway 68 – Monterey: May 19 – May 23
  • Night time utility work on Highway 68 between Josselyn Canyon Road and Torero Drive from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.
Highway 68 – Salinas: May 19
  • Daytime utility work on eastbound Highway 68 (south Main Street) between San Joaquin Street and San Miguel Avenue from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  •  Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 101 – King City and Greenfield: May 19 – 23
  • Daytime tree removal along southbound Highway 101 between Lagomarsino Avenue and Central Avenue from 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Prunedale Improvement Project: May 19 – May 24
  • Night time construction on Highway 101 will result in temporary closures of Highway 101 at the Crazy Horse Canyon Road Overpass and the Crazy Horse Canyon / northbound Highway 101 on-ramp between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.  
  • The closures are:
    • Monday, May 19: Crazy Horse Canyon / northbound Highway 101 on-ramp.
    • Tuesday, May 20: Crazy Horse Canyon / northbound Highway 101 on-ramp
    • Wednesday, May 21: Southbound Highway 101: southbound traffic to use interchange ramps.
    • Thursday, May 22: possible closures. Update next week.
  • Drivers traveling from Crazy Horse Canyon Road to northbound Highway 101 should detour to San Miguel Canyon Road on the nights of Monday, May 19 and Tuesday, May 20.
