Road and lane closures for June 23 - 30

Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, June 23, through Sunday, June 30, 2013 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1/Rocky Creek Viaduct Project:  June 24  – June 28
  • Daytime roadwork on Highway 1 continues next week from 7 am to 5 pm Monday, June 24 through Friday, June 28.
  • There WILL be NIGHT ROADWORK starting Sunday, June 23 through Thursday, June 27 (Friday at 7am).
  • There will be NO OVERNIGHT FULL closures next week.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 1 at Rocky Creek has one-way signalized traffic control 24/7. Traffic will be stopped for 10 minutes at a time during daytime roadwork.

Highway 1 through Big Sur: June 24 – June 28
  • Day time work including vegetation spraying, paving, and replacing pavement markers continues along the Big Sur coast between Lime Creek Bridge and Casa Verde Way.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 Soledad:  June 24 – June 28
  • Daytime bridge work on Arroyo Seco Road at Highway 101 will result in surface street lane closures—eastbound and westbound—between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 Gonzales and Chualar:  June 24 – June 28
  • Daytime work on Highway 101, from Gloria Road to Chualar Road, will result in alternating lane closures—northbound and southbound—between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Crews will be surveying, and sealing cracked pavement.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.
Highway 101 – Boronda Road:  June 23
  • Daytime work on the southbound on-ramp to Highway 101 at Boronda Rd. will close one lane between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.
Highway 101 Salinas:  June 23 – June 28
  • Nighttime bridge work on Highway 101 at East Market St. will result in alternating lane closures between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Daytime bridge work on Highway 101 at Sherwood Dr. will result in alternating lane closures between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

Prunedale Improvement Project – Espinosa Road: June 24 – June 28
  • Daytime work on Espinosa Road near Hwy 101 in Salinas will result in surface street lane closures (as needed) between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

Prunedale Improvement Project – Ralph Lane - Pesante Road: June 24 – June 28
  • Night work on Highway 101, between Ralph Ln and Pesante Rd, will result in alternating lane closures (as needed) between 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

Prunedale Improvement Project – Reese Circle:  June 23
  • Daytime work on northbound Highway 101 at Reese Circle will close one lane between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.
Prunedale Improvement Project – San Miguel Canyon Road:  June 23
  • Daytime work on the northbound on-ramo to Highway 101 at San Miguel Canyon Rd. will close one lane between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.
  • Crews will be repairing guardrail.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.

San Juan Road Project – Dunbarton Road South:  June 23 – June 28
  • Night work on Highway 101, between Dunbarton Rd. South and Rocks Rd. will result in single lane closures between 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.

San Juan Road Project – San Juan Road:  June 23 – June 28
  • Daytime work on Highway 101 at San Juan Road will result in alternating lane closures between    7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.

Highway 183 at Tembladero Bridge:  June 23 - 28
  • Nighttime bridge work on Highway 183 Tembladero Bridge will result in alternating lane closures between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

Blackie Road Safety Improvement Project: June 24 – June 28
  • Roadway construction continues between Borromeo Drive to approximately one mile west of Borromeo Drive going to Castroville.
  • Blackie Rd. will be open to emergency vehicles, school buses, local residents and patrons of local businesses.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 30 minutes.

***UPCOMING TEMPORARY CLOSURE:  San Juan Road: July 1- 2***
  • San Juan Road will be closed to through traffic just after the 76 Gas Station to Dunbarton Road from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 1 and July 2.
  • Motorists should detour to Dunbarton Road.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.
