Road and Lane Closures for April 14 - April 21



MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for the areas between Salinas and North Monterey County from Sunday, April 14, through Sunday, April 21, 2013– newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.


Highway 1/Rocky Creek Viaduct Project:  Apr 15  – Apr 19

  • Daytime roadwork on Highway 1 continues next week from 7 am to 5 pm Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 19
  •     Traffic will be stopped for 10 minutes at a time during daytime roadwork.

Night work will be as follows:

  • Tuesday, April 16 from 7 pm to 9 pm—temporary closures with up to 10-minute delays 

Overnight work will be as follows:

  •  Tuesday, April 16 from 9 pm to 7 am (Wednesday)–full closure in place;
  • Wednesday, April 17 from 11 pm to 7 am (Thursday)—full closure in place
Overnight work being done consists of pouring concrete on the bridge deck on the highway and requires a full closure of the work zone.

NOTE: No overnight closures Sunday, April 14, Monday, April 15, or Thursday, April 18.

Highway 1 at Big Sur:  Apr 15 – Apr 19
  •  Daytime roadwork on Highway 1 next week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 19.
  •  Work will be done between Lime Creek Bridge and Pfeiffer Burns State Park for drainage work, and between Juan Higuera Creek Bridge and the Molera Park Entrance for excavation work. 
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 1/North of Moss Landing: Apr 15 – Apr 19
  • Grinding operations continue at Springfield Road, north of Moss Landing, between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 20 minutes.
Highway 1/ Salinas Road to Watsonville:  Apr 15 – Apr 19
  • Daytime and nighttime work on Highway 1 continues, from Salinas Road to the Santa Cruz County Line, will result in alternating lane closures—northbound and southbound—on Sunday, April 14, to Friday, April 19.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.
Highway 68 Between Department of Forestry and Skyline Forest Drive: Apr 16 – Apr 19
  • Paving on Highway 68 between the Department of Forestry and Skyline Forest Drive between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., from Tuesday, April 16, to Friday, April 19.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 101 at King City : Apr 15 – Apr 19
  •  Crews will be conducting bridge work and inspections between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3 p.m., from Monday, April 15, to Friday, April 19.
  • Locations include Layous-Wild Horse Road, First Street-Wild Horse Road, Broadway-Jolan Road 
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes 
Highway 101 at Chualar: Apr 15 – Apr 19
  •  Crews will be conducting curb, gutter, and sidewalk work between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., from Monday, April 15, to Friday, April 19.
John St/Route 68 in Salinas: Apr 14 – Apr 19
  • Night work on the John Street off-ramps between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Crews will be surveying
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes

Highway 101/East Market in Salinas: Apr 14 – Apr 19
  • Night work on the East Market Street off-ramps between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Crews will be conducting curb, gutter, and sidewalk work
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
San Juan Road Interchange – Rocks/Cannon Road to Dumbarton: Apr 14 – Apr 19
  •  Crews will be grinding pavement between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m., from Sunday, April 14, to Friday, April 19.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.
Highway 183 from Salinas to Castroville: Apr 14 – Apr 19
  •  Day and Night work on the Highway 183 from Lake Street to Oak Street between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., and 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Crews will be conducting curb, gutter, and sidewalk work
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
