Road and Lane closures for Dec. 23, 2012, through Jan. 1, 2013


Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for the areas between Salinas and North Monterey County from Sunday, December 23, through Tuesday, January 1, 2013– newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

San Juan Road Project: Dec. 26 – Dec. 28
·         Night work on Wednesday, December 26, and Thursday, December 27, will result in one-way traffic control on San Juan Road near Hwy 101.
o    Work hours are 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.
o    Motorists can expect delays of up to 10 minutes.

Highway 1/Rocky Creek Viaduct Project:  Dec. 23 – Jan. 1
·         Daytime roadwork on Highway 1 continues next week from Wednesday, Dec. 26 through Friday, Dec. 28, between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm.
·         There will be NO overnight closures from Sunday, Dec. 23 through Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013.
·         There will be NO daytime closures on: Monday, Dec. 24, Tuesday, Dec. 25, Monday, Dec. 31 or Tuesday, January 1, 2013.
·         Daytime and overnight roadwork resumes on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013.
·         Hwy. 1 @ Rocky Creek has one-way has one-way signalized traffic control 24/7. Traffic will be stopped for 10 minutes at a time during daytime roadwork.

Highway 1 between San City and Watsonville: Dec. 26 and 27
·         A two-day emergency striping project will take place at two locations on Hwy. 1 next Wednesday, Dec. 26, and Thursday, Dec. 27. Locations are:
o    Ord Village Overhead, near Sand City, and
o    Salinas River Bridge near Castroville. 
·         Roadwork consists of alternating lane closures in both directions;
·         Work hours are from 8:30 am to 11:30 am both days.
·         Work is expected to be completed on Thursday, Dec. 27, weather permitting.
·         If it rains, then the striping work will be re-scheduled for the following week. An update will be provided if necessary.
·         Motorists can expect ten-minute delays due to this roadwork.
