Road and lane closures for Dec. 16 - 25

Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for the areas between Salinas and North Monterey County from Sunday, December 16, through Tuesday, December 25, 2012– newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

San Juan Road Project: Dec. 17 – Dec. 21

·         Night work from Dec. 17 to Dec. 21 will have crews working along Highway 101 between Dunbarton Road and Rocks Rd.

o    Work hours are 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.

o    Motorists can expect delays of up to 10 minutes.

Highway 1/Rocky Creek Viaduct Project:  Dec. 16 – Dec. 25

·         Daytime roadwork continues from 7am to 5 pm Monday, Dec. 17 through Friday, Dec. 21. 

·         Overnight closures of Highway 1 at Rocky Creek (Mile Marker 59.5), between Big Sur and Carmel are scheduled for four nights beginning Sunday, Dec. 16 through Thursday, Dec. 20 from 9 pm to 7 am.

·         There will be NO overnight closures from Sunday, Dec. 23 through Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013.

·         Daytime work will take place Wednesday, Dec. 26, Thursday, Dec. 27 and Friday, Dec. 28 from 7 am to 5 pm.

·         There will be NO daytime closures on: Monday, Dec. 24, Tuesday, Dec. 25, Monday, Dec. 31 or Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Daytime and overnight roadwork resumes on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013.

·         Hwy. 1 @ Rocky Creek has one-way has one-way signalized traffic control 24/7. Traffic will be stopped for 10 minutes at a time during daytime roadwork.

·         In order to minimize traffic impact as part of the project, there will be advance notification for motorists, residents and businesses via a traffic hotline, electronic message signs and email updates.

Highway 1 in Watsonville:  Dec. 17 – Dec. 18

·         Daytime work on Highway 1, from Salinas Road to the Santa Cruz County Line, will result in alternating lane closures—northbound and southbound—between 7 am and 4 pm on Monday, December 17, and Tuesday, December 18.

·         Motorists can expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

·         Crews will be repairing asphalt.

Highway 1 @ Fremont:  Dec. 17 – Dec. 21

·         Night work on northbound Hwy 1 at Fremont St. will result in closures between the hours of 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. from Monday, December 17, to Friday, December 21.

·         Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

·         Crews will be working on the guardrail.

Highway 68 @ Highway 1 (East):  Dec. 17 – Dec 14

·         Night work on westbound Hwy 68 at Hwy 1 (east) will result in closures between the hours of 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. from Monday, December 17, to Friday, December 121

·         Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

·         Crews will be working on the guardrail.

Prunedale Improvement Project: San Miguel Canyon Rd. and Hwy 101

• Construction work on San Miguel Canyon Rd., near Prunedale North Rd. and the Prunedale Shopping Center, began on Monday, June 25.  This work involves excavating the roadway to install new traffic signals, curbs and sidewalks, and rebuild the roadway.

o    Motorists can expect delays of about 15 minutes in the area.

o    Work will be done during the day.

o    Businesses are open, but access will change as work progresses.
