SPEED LIMIT ON HIGHWAY 101 THROUGH PRUNEDALE INCREASED TO 65 MPH WITH THE COMPLETION OF THE PRUNEDALE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

MONTEREY COUNTY – On Thursday, February 26, the speed limit was increased from 55 mph to 65 mph along the 10-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 101 between Boronda Road in Salinas to just beyond the Crazy Horse Canyon Road Interchange in Prunedale. The increase comes with the completion of roadwork for the Prunedale Improvement Project (PIP).
Signs advising motorists of the new speed limit have been clearly posted along the corridor.
Caltrans reminds drivers that the speed limit for U.S. Highway 101 remains 55 mph through the San Juan Road Interchange Project limits, from Dunbarton Road to Cannon Road/Rocks Road. Fines for moving violations are doubled in the San Juan Road Interchange Project construction zone.
Remember to slow for the cone zone and use caution when driving through construction zones.
