ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES MARCH 1 - MARCH 8



Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, March 1 through Sunday, March 8, 2015 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1 – Big Sur — Multiple Locations: March 2 – 6
  • Daytime roadwork at multiple locations along Highway 1 between from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • The locations are:
    • Salmon Creek Arch Culvert to Mud Creek for pavement work.
    • Pfeiffer Burns State Park to the Ventana Entrance for drainage work.
    • The Little Sur River Bridge and Garrapata Ridge Road for drainage work.
    • Pfeiffer Burns State Park to the Carmel River Bridge for vegetation spraying.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes
Highway 1 – Carmel to Santa Cruz County: March 5 – 6
  • Daytime vegetation spraying along Highway 1 between the Carmel River Bridge and the Santa Cruz County Line from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 68 – Pacific Grove: March 3
  • Daytime tree removal along eastbound and westbound Highway 68 between Congress Avenue and 19th Street from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
PG&E Gas Line Replacement Project: Highway 68 – March 2 – 7
  • Gas line replacement work will result in night time lane closures along eastbound and westbound Highway 68 between San Benancio Road and Quail Ridge Lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes
Highway 101 – San Lucas: March 4 – 5
  • Daytime sweeping and survey work along Highway 101 between Route 198 and the Rancho undercrossing from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – King City: March 2 – 3
  • Daytime sweeping along Highway 101 between Broadway and Jolon Road from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Greenfield to Soledad: March 2 – 6
  • Daytime and night time median barrier and ramp work along Highway 101 between Espinosa Road and Arroyo Seco Road.
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Sala Road: March 2 – 6
  • Night work may result in alternating lane closures on northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Boronda Road and Ralph Lane from 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Crazy Horse Canyon Road: March 2 – 6
  • Night work may result in alternating lane and ramp closures on northbound and southbound Highway 101 at the Crazy Horse Canyon Interchange from 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m..
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – San Juan Road Interchange Project: March 2 – 6
  • Night time paving along northbound Highway 101 between Dunbarton Road (South) and Cannon Road/Rocks Road from 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • Directional signs and changeable message boards will be in place to help direct drivers.
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.
Abbott Street Water Line Replacement Project
  • Waterline installation along the Abbott Street/Harkins Road/Dayton Street corridor may result in lane closures and traffic control.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes

SPEED LIMIT ON HIGHWAY 101 THROUGH PRUNEDALE INCREASED TO 65 MPH WITH THE COMPLETION OF THE PRUNEDALE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT




 MONTEREY COUNTY – On Thursday, February 26, the speed limit was increased from 55 mph to 65 mph along the 10-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 101 between Boronda Road in Salinas to just beyond the Crazy Horse Canyon Road Interchange in Prunedale. The increase comes with the completion of roadwork for the Prunedale Improvement Project (PIP).
Signs advising motorists of the new speed limit have been clearly posted along the corridor.
Caltrans reminds drivers that the speed limit for U.S. Highway 101 remains 55 mph through the San Juan Road Interchange Project limits, from Dunbarton Road to Cannon Road/Rocks Road. Fines for moving violations are doubled in the San Juan Road Interchange Project construction zone.
Remember to slow for the cone zone and use caution when driving through construction zones.

UPDATE #1 NIGHT TIME PAVING OF NORTHBOUND U.S. HIGHWAY 101 AT SAN JUAN ROAD CONTINUES TRAFFIC CROSSOVER TONIGHT



MONTEREY COUNTY – Night time paving continues on northbound U.S. Highway 101 at San Juan Road Tuesday, February 24 through Friday, February 27. Paving will occur at night between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The schedule for lane closures is:

·         Tuesday night: both northbound lanes closed. Northbound traffic will crossover to the southbound lanes with one lane of travel for both directions on the southbound lanes.
·         Wednesday night: one northbound lane closed.
·         Thursday night: one northbound lane closed.

Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.

Directional signs and changeable message boards will be in place to help direct drivers.

The full opening of the San Juan Road Interchange is currently scheduled for Spring of 2015.

  • Daytime drainage work along Highway 1 between the Little Sur River Bridge and Garrapata Ridge Road from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 1 – Carmel to Santa Cruz County: February 23 – February 27
  • Daytime vegetation spraying along Highway 1 between the Carmel River Bridge and the Santa Cruz County Line from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 1 – North Marina: February 23 – February 27
  • Daytime paving along southbound Highway 1 between Del Monte Blvd/Neponset and Molera Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Gas line replacement work will result in night time lane closures along eastbound and westbound Highway 68 between Toro Park and Bit Road from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes
Highway 68 / Main Street – Salinas: February 23 – February 25
  • Daytime paving and utility work along Highway 68 / South Main Street between Nissen Road and Maple Street from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 101 – King City: February 23 – 24
  • Daytime tree work along southbound Highway 101 between Teague Avenue and Central Avenue from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Greenfield to Soledad: February 22 – 27
  • Daytime and night time median barrier and ramp work along Highway 101 between Espinosa Road and Arroyo Seco Road.
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

  • Daytime and night time shoulder work along southbound Highway 101 between Potter Road and Esperanza Road.

Highway 101 – Prunedale Improvement Project: February 22 – February 27
  • Night work will result in alternating lane closures on northbound and southbound Highway 101 at the following locations from 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  •  The locations are:
    • Between Boronda Road and Ralph Lane.
    • Between Vierra Canyon Road and Tustin Road.
    • Between Mallory Canyon Road and Echo Valley Road.
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

  • Night time paving along northbound Highway 101 between Dunbarton Road (South) and Cannon Road/Rocks Road from 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
