ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES FOR JANUARY 11 - JANUARY 18



Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, January 11 through Sunday, January 18, 2015 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1 – Multiple Locations: January 12 – January 16
  • Daytime work along Highway 1 at multiple locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The locations are:
    • Alder Creek Bridge for slide removal.
    • Lime Creek Bridge to Fullers Point for drainage clearing.
    • Ventana Entrance for slide removal.
    • Little Sur River Bridge to Garrapata Creek Bridge for drainage clearing.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 1 – Monterey: January 13 – January 16
  • Daytime tree work and guardrail repair along Highway 1 between Highway 68 and Munras Avenue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Highway 1 – Monterey: January 12 – January 16
  • Night time paving will close the northbound Highway 1 on-ramp at Aguajito Road/Fremont Street from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • There will be Electronic Message Boards alerting motorists
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes
Highway 1 – Monterey: January 12
  • Daytime pavement repair on the northbound Del Monte Avenue Highway 1 on-ramp and northbound Highway 1 between Del Monte Avenue and Canyon Del Rey from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 68 – Toro Park: January 12 – January 17
  • Night time utility work along eastbound and westbound Highway 68 between San Benancio Road and Quail Ridge Lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Highway 101 – Soledad: January 12 – January 16
  • Daytime road work along Highway 101 between Harden Farms Road and Arroyo Seco Road from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 101 – Salinas to San Benito County: January 13 – January 16
  • Daytime sweeping along Highway 101 between Airport Boulevard and the San Benito County Line from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Highway 101 – Prunedale Improvement Project: January 11 – January 16
  • Night work will result in alternating lane closures on northbound and southbound Highway 101 at the following locations from 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • The locations are:
    • Between Boronda Road and Ralph Lane.
    • Between Vierra Canyon Road and Tustin Road.
    • Between Mallory Canyon Road and Echo Valley Road.
    • The Crazy Horse Canyon Interchange northbound and southbound on-ramps and off-ramps. 
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – San Juan Road Project: January 5 – January 9
  • Night time work along northbound and southbound Highway 101 between Dunbarton Road and Cannon Road/Rocks Road from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 198: January 12 – January 16
  • Daytime slide removal along Highway 198 between Pine Valley Road and the Fresno County Line from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Abbott Street Water Line Replacement Project
  • The Don Chapin Company is continuing to install a water main water line along the Abbott/Harkins/Dayton corridor to improve water service to California Water Service customers  in south Salinas, including agricultural businesses in the area.  The Abbott Street portion of work is 80% complete, and the #1 (inside) southbound lane will remain closed during the upcoming week (January 11-18) for final installation work, Abbott/Harkins intersection work, and trench restoration/paving.  The water main installation will continue south along Harkins Road, to Dayton Street for the next 3-6 weeks.  Area traffic should expect minor delays (5-minutes, or less).  Construction is weather dependent.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
