ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES FEBRUARY 1 - FEBRUARY 8



Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, February 1 through Sunday, February 8, 2015 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1 – Multiple Locations: February 2 – February 6
  • Daytime work along Highway 1 at multiple locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The locations are:
    • Alder Creek Bridge for slide removal.
    • Burns Creek Bridge to Fullers Point for drainage clearing.
    • Ventana Entrance to the Post Office for slide removal.
    • Sycamore Canyon Road to Hurricane Point for drainage clearing.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes
Highway 1 – Carmel: February 5
  • Daytime paving along southbound Highway 1 between Carmel Valley Road and Rio Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • A detour will be in effect on Carmel Valley Rd.
  • The northbound lane will be open.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 1 – Monterey: February 2 – February 5
  • Daytime drainage work along northbound Highway 1 between Fremont Street and Route 218/Canyon Del Rey Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Highway 68 – Toro Park: February 1 – February 7
  • Night time utility work along eastbound and westbound Highway 68 at two locations from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • The locations are:
    • San Benancio Road to Quail Ridge Lane
    • Toro Park to Bit Road
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes 
Highway 101 – Salinas to Chualar: February 2 – February 6
  • Night time shoulder work along southbound Highway 101 between Potter Road and Esperanza Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Highway 101 – Prunedale Improvement Project: February 1 – February 6
  • Night work will result in alternating lane closures on northbound and southbound Highway 101 at the following locations from 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • The locations are:
    • Between Boronda Road and Ralph Lane.
    • Between Vierra Canyon Road and Tustin Road.
    • Between Mallory Canyon Road and Echo Valley Road.
    • The Crazy Horse Canyon Interchange northbound and southbound on-ramps and off-ramps. 
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 156 – Castroville to Prunedale: February 2 – February 6
  • Daytime sweeping along Highway 156 between Highway 1 and Highway 101 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Abbott Street Water Line Replacement Project
  • Waterline installation along the Abbott Street/Harkins Road/Dayton Street corridor may result in lane closures and traffic control.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Hitchcock Road Closure: January 15 – February 13
  • Hitchcock Road is temporarily closed between Dave Road and Highway 68 for work on the City of Salinas Wastewater Line Project.
  • Detour signs are in place.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes

Highway 1 – Multiple Locations: January 26 – January 30

  • Daytime work along Highway 1 at multiple locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The locations are:
    • Alder Creek Bridge for slide removal.
    • Ventana Entrance to the Big Sur maintenance station for slide removal.
    • Little Sur River Bridge to Garrapata Creek Bridge for drainage clearing.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes
Highway 1 – Monterey: January 27 – January 30
  • Daytime tree removal along the southbound Highway 1 off-ramp to Highway 68/Holman Highway from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Highway 1 – Monterey: January 28 – January 30
  • Night time striping will close the northbound Highway 1 on-ramp at Aguajito Road/Fremont Street from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Highway 68 – Toro Park: January 26 – January 31
  • Night time utility work along eastbound and westbound Highway 68 between San Benancio Road and Quail Ridge Lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes
Highway 101 – Greenfield to Soledad: January 26 – January 30
  • Daytime and night time shoulder work along Highway 101 between Espinosa Road and Arroyo Seco Road.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 101 – Salinas to Chualar: January 26 – January 30
  • Night time shoulder work along southbound Highway 101 between Potter Road and Esperanza Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes

  • Daytime sweeping along Highway 101 between Airport Boulevard and the San Benito County Line from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Highway 101 – Prunedale Improvement Project: January 25 – January 30
  • Night work will result in alternating lane closures on northbound and southbound Highway 101 at the following locations from 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • The locations are:

Abbott Street Water Line Replacement Project
  • The Don Chapin Company is continuing to install a water main water line along the Abbott/Harkins/Dayton corridor to improve water service to California Water Service customers  in south Salinas, including agricultural businesses in the area.  The Abbott Street portion of work is 80% complete, and the #1 (inside) southbound lane will remain closed during the upcoming week (January 11-18) for final installation work, Abbott/Harkins intersection work, and trench restoration/paving.  The water main installation will continue south along Harkins Road, to Dayton Street for the next 3-6 weeks.  Area traffic should expect minor delays (5-minutes, or less).  Construction is weather dependent.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes

Highway 1 – Multiple Locations: January 19 – January 23
  • Daytime work along Highway 1 at multiple locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The locations are:
    • Alder Creek Bridge for slide removal.
    • Ventana Entrance to the Big Sur maintenance station for slide removal.

  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes

  • There will be Electronic Message Boards alerting motorists.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes
Highway 68 – Toro Park: January 19 – January 24
  • Night time utility work along eastbound and westbound Highway 68 between San Benancio Road and Quail Ridge Lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes
Highway 101 – Soledad: January 19 – January 23
  • Daytime road work along Highway 101 between Harden Farms Road and Arroyo Seco Road from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 101 – Salinas to Chualar: January 19 – January 23
  • Night time shoulder work along southbound Highway 101 between Potter Road and Somavia Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
Highway 101 – Salinas to San Benito County: January 20 – January 23
  • Daytime sweeping along Highway 101 between Airport Boulevard and the San Benito County Line from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes
