NORTHBOUND HIGHWAY 17 RETAINING WALL PROJECT WILL INCLUDES LANE CLOSURES AND TRAFFIC SWITCH—SATURDAY NOV. 16 THROUGH MONDAY NOV. 18

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY –The retaining wall project that began on Hwy. 17 near Scotts Valley just north of Glenwood Drive will include a ½ mile lane closure and a major traffic switch starting Saturday night, Nov. 16 through Monday morning, Nov. 18. Traffic control is as follows:

1) One lane of northbound Hwy. 17 will be closed on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 7 pm until Monday, Nov. 18 at 5 am.

2) One lane of southbound Hwy. 17 will be closed from Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7 pm until Monday, Nov. 18 at 5 am. During this time, motorists heading northbound will be crossed over the center median before proceeding on the southbound # 1 (fast) lane.

3) NOTE: One lane in each direction will remain open at all times. Electronic message boards, freeway service patrol and the CHP will be present during this closure to assist with traffic control. Motorists can expect up to 30-minute delays.

The roadwork being performed is part of the existing project to construct a retaining wall with concrete slab and barrier and pave with hot mix asphalt at this location. The project is expected to complete in the spring of 2015.

The contractor for this $2.8 million project is Condon-Johnson & Associates Inc. of Oakland, CA.

As always, Caltrans asks for the cooperation of motorists to drive carefully along the Highway 17 corridor.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through
highway construction zones.
