NIGHT WORK ON HWY 101 AT CRAZY HORSE CANYON WILL SHIFT TRAFFIC

NIGHT WORK ON HWY 101 AT CRAZY HORSE CANYON WILL SHIFT TRAFFIC
Traffic will be crossed over to allow for construction of the Crazy Horse Canyon Overpass on March 14 and 18

MONTEREY COUNTY – Construction work on the new Crazy Horse Canyon Overpass will result in traffic on Highway 101 being shifted on to the other side of the highway between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on March 14 and 18. Northbound Highway 101 traffic will be shifted on March 14, and southbound Highway 101 traffic will be shifted on March 18.

Both northbound and southbound traffic on Highway 101 will be affected; detour signs and markers will clearly indicate the shift of the traffic to the opposite side of the highway through the construction area, and back again.

The traffic crossover is necessary to allow crews to construct falsework – a temporary framework used to support structures or walls during construction – overhead for the Crazy Horse Canyon Overpass.

This work is part of the Prunedale Improvement Project, which addresses traffic safety issues along an eight-mile stretch of Highway 101, from Espinosa/Russell Roads in Salinas north to Crazy Horse Canyon/Echo Valley Roads. The project includes construction of three new interchanges /overpasses and a continuous median barrier from Crazy Horse Canyon to Russell/Espinosa. These safety measures will eliminate dangerous left turns, reduce delays on US 101, provide safer access for local business and residents, and provide congestion relief for the thousands of vehicles that travel through the corridor every day.
