If you’ve driven on 101 near Crazy Horse Canyon recently, you probably noticed the new structure over the highway – it’s a temporary bridge (made by a company called Mabey - hence the name "Mabey Bridge") that will be used to move to move dirt for construction of the new interchange that will be built at Crazy Horse Canyon from the west side of Hwy 101 to the east side.
The use of the temporary bridge/conveyor belt was proposed because it would be safer than having dirt hauling trucks going across the highway all day.
The bridge (which is made of prefabricated pieces, much like an erector set) was set very early on Friday, Feb. 24. There was a full traffic stop on Hwy 101 for about 15 minutes as the bridge was put in to place.
The bridge/conveyor is scheduled to be activated on March 7.
I’m attaching some photos of the installation because I’m kinda geeky and think this is cool...hope you do, too!
Please continue to drive safely and Slow for the Cone Zone!
