Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for the areas between Salinas and North Monterey County from Sunday, September 18 through Sunday, September 25 - newest information is in red.
Night work on Highway 1 to Highway 68: September 18 - 22
· Caltrans will close the Hwy 1 off ramp to Hwy 68 eastbound AND the westbound Hwy 68 connector to southbound Hwy 1 overnight from Sunday, September 18, through Thursday, September 22.
o This closure will only be at night, between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
o There will be a detour to southbound Hwy 1 via the Casa Verde off ramp.
Hwy 101/Airport Blvd Project: September 18 – September 25
· CalWater will have a lane closure on Airport Blvd. at Moffett St. on Monday, Sept 19, and possibly Tuesday, Sept 20, from 9 am to 3 pm.
· The closure is needed to install a water line.
· PG&E will close one lane on Echo Valley Road from Hwy 101 to Tustin Rd on Monday, September 19, 2011 from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm to finished pole relocation.
o Traffic heading toward Hwy 101 will be detoured to Tustin Rd,
o Traffic from Hwy 101 will be allowed through.
- Night work from Monday, Sept. 19 – Thursday, Sept. 22 on HWY 101 at Russell and Espinosa between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. will close:
- The left turn to Espinosa Rd from the northbound Hwy 101
- The right turn to Russell Rd from northbound Hwy 101
- The right turn to Espinosa Rd from southbound Hwy 101
- Emergency responders will have access at all times.
- Night work on HWY 101 at San Miguel Canyon on Monday, Sept. 19 – Thursday, Sept. 22 will close the following between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.:
- One northbound lane between Tustin and San Miguel Canyon
- The northbound on ramp at San Miguel Canyon
- The northbound off ramp at San Miguel Canyon
- One southbound lane between San Miguel Canyon and Tustin
- The southbound off ramp at San Miguel Canyon
· Blackie Road remains closed from Highway 101 to Borromeo Drive for approximately two months.
o During construction there will be no entrance to Blackie Road from either Highway 101 or Prunedale South Road. (Please see graphic at the end of this news release.)
o Blackie Road at Prunedale South Road will be closed to all but emergency response vehicles.
o The closure is necessary to install a new box culvert that will go underneath Blackie Rd.

· The Northbound HWY 101 on and off ramps at Russell/Espinosa will be closed between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. until late September/early October, 2011.
o Crews will be:
- Widening and reconstructing North Main St. from Russell Rd to 1000 feet south of the Russell Rd/Main St. intersection;
- Working on storm drainage systems and a traffic signal; and
- Making improvements along Russell Rd. and Harrison Rd.
o Work hours for this project will be from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
o Flaggers will be in the area to direct traffic.
· Cross Rd. in Prunedale is closed to through traffic for approximately six months; the road is open to residents and emergency responders.
o Caltrans is removing the pavement, installing several new box culverts, and making improvements along Cross Rd. and Reese Circle.
o Throughout this construction Cross Rd will be open for residents, but will be closed to through traffic.
o Detour signs will be posted throughout the area.
o During this period Granite Construction crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.
Highway 68: September 18 – September 25
· Monterey County Public Works continues its work along HWY 68 and San Benancio, which will go on until December 2011. This work is being done during the day; drivers should be alert. Most work will be done behind the concrete barriers that are set up, but minor delays can be expected.
UPCOMING PROJECTS
Highway 68 through Downtown Salinas: Delayed until September 26
· The five-mile project to overlay Hwy. 68 from River Road to Work Street in Salinas has been delayed; the work is now scheduled to begin Monday, September 26.
o Work will consist of daytime lane and ramp closures from 8:30 am to 4 pm, Mondays through Thursdays; and from 8:30 am to 1 pm on Fridays.
o Overnight work may also take place between 6 pm and 7 am during the week.
o Up to 10-minute delays are anticipated with the daytime closures.
o This project goes through downtown Salinas.
o There will be reduced or no parking in this construction zone due to micro-surfacing of the pavement.
Please drive safely and exercise caution in the construction zones.
