  • The #2 (right) lane of westbound Hwy. 68 will be closed at this location Monday through Thursday from 8 am until 6 pm and from 8 am until 4 pm on Fridays.
  • Motorists can expect delays not too exceed ten minutes.

Salinas: East Alisal Street/Skyway Boulevard Roundabout Project
The City of Salinas is constructing its first modern Roundabout at the East Alisal/Skyway intersection in Salinas.  Modern roundabouts generally provide the most efficient way of managing traffic through an intersection, while providing the benefits of fewer conflict points between pedestrians and motorists, which enhances pedestrian safety, reduces congestion and average vehicle delay, generating less pollution (via fewer vehicle stops and starts).

Over the next 2 weeks, the contractor will be:

1.  Completing the paver installation;
2.  Completing the irrigation and landscape improvements;
3.  Completing bio-swales that will clean storm water runoff from paved areas before discharging into the storm drain system;
4.  Installing pavement markings and striping;
5. Cleaning the site and addressing punch list items.

 Motorists should expect 5-10 minute delays.

Salinas: Sanborn Road Waterline Project: Fairview Avenue – Eucalyptus Drive
In a continuing effort to improve water distribution to its customers (with sufficient pressure and quantity), California Water Service Company is undertaking several water main upgrades within the Salinas city limits.  One of the more significant upgrades is the upcoming installation of a 12” water main within Sanborn Road that will extend from Fairview Avenue to Eucalyptus Drive (roughly 1.1 miles long), constructed in phases beginning at Fairview, and ending at Eucalyptus. Traffic controls for lane closures will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.  To lessen the impact on traffic work in the intersections of John Street, E. Alisal street and E. Market Street will be done at night.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to destinations or travel outside of the construction times.  Motorists should expect delays along the Sanborn Road corridor in the vicinity of work during construction.  The contractor for the project is West Valley Construction Company. They have assured Cal water that all driveways to businesses in the area will remain open during construction. California Water Service apologizes for any inconvenience this project may cause and wants to thank the public for their patience during the construction of this project.
