lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday,
April 26 through Sunday, May 3, 2015 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is
weather-dependent.
Highway 1 – Big Sur Coast: April 27
& April 28
- Daytime roadwork at two locations along Highway 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The locations are:
- Kirk Creek Camp to Rain Rock for tree removal on Tuesday, April 28.
- Lime Creek Bridge for tree removal on Monday, April 27.
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
PG&E Gas Line Replacement Project –
Highway 68: April 26 – May 2
- Gas line replacement work will result in night time lane closures along eastbound and westbound Highway 68 between Olmsted Road and San Benancio Road from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes
Highway 101 – San Juan Road Interchange
Project: April 26 – May 1
- Night time paving along southbound Highway 101 between Dunbarton Road (South) and Cannon Road/Rocks Road from 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
- The southbound San Juan Road exit will be subject to closure from 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
- Motorists should detour to Crazy Horse Canyon Road.
- Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
BIG SUR INTERNATIONAL MARATHON TO
BE RUN ALONG HIGHWAY 1 ON SUNDAY, APRIL 26
MONTEREY COUNTY (CARMEL/BIG SUR) – The Big Sur International
Marathon will be run along Highway 1 beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, April
26. The race will start in Big Sur and
will end at Rio Road in Carmel.
Traffic on Highway 1 will be restricted from 6:00 am until 1:30 pm
from Sycamore Canyon Road to Carmel Valley Road. While the southbound lane is
closed for the race, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will use the
northbound lane to lead caravans of traffic in alternating directions at three
different intervals during this time.
The CHP will also manage a closure for left turns from Rio Road onto
southbound Hwy. 1 from 3:30 am until 1:30 pm. Therefore, motorists traveling in
both directions should expect delays of up to two hours.
Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving
through highway work zones.
