ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES FOR SEPTEMBER 7 - SEPTEMBER 14



Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, September 7, through Sunday, September 14, 2014 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.



Highway 1 – Big Sur: September 8 – September 12
  • Daytime drainage cleaning along Highway 1 between Hot Springs Creek Bridge and the Little Sur River Bridge from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 1 – Seaside: September 9 – September 10
  • Daytime guardrail repair along southbound Highway 1 between Del Monte Avenue and Tioga Avenue from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 101 – Prunedale Improvement Project: September 8 – September 12
  • Night work will result in ramp and alternating lane closures on northbound and southbound Highway 101 at the following locations from 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • The locations are:
    • The northbound Boronda Road on-ramp.
    • Between Boronda Road and Ralph Lane.
    • The northbound Sala Road off-ramp.
    • Between Blackie Road/Reese Circle and Pesante Road.
    • Between Vierra Canyon Road and Tustin Road.
    • Between Mallory Canyon Road and Echo Valley Road.
    • The Crazy Horse Canyon Interchange northbound and southbound on-ramps and off-ramps.  
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 146: September 8 – September 12
  • Daytime pavement work along Highway 146 between the San Benito County Line and Ramus Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Highway 198: September 8 – September 12
  • Daytime pavement work along Highway 198 between the Fresno County Line and Highway 25 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes
Davis Road Class II Bike Lane Project– Salinas
  • Daytime bike lane work on Davis Road between Blanco Road and East Rossi Street may result in alternating lane closures from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.
Imjin Parkway Class II Bike Lane Project
  • Daytime bike lane work on Imjin Parkway between Reservation Road and Imjin Road may result in alternating lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Motorists should expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.

SPECIAL NOTE: 11th ANNUAL BEST BUDDIES CHALLENGE BICYCLE RIDE COMES TO THE CENTRAL COAST THIS SATURDAY

CENTRAL COAST – The 11th Annual Best Buddies Challenge bicycle ride will take place on Highway 1 beginning in Carmel in Monterey County and ending in San Simeon in San Luis Obispo County on Saturday, September 6.

Traffic control for this ride will begin at 6 am and consists of rolling closures by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). In addition, Electronic Message Boards will be posted alerting motorists to ‘Share the Road’ with cyclists.  Motorists can expect delays not to exceed 15 minutes.

This bike ride will begin at 7 am at Carmel Valley Road in Carmel.  All riders will be off the road by 4 pm on San Simeon Road near Hearst Castle in San Simeon.
