U.S. HIGHWAY 101 ACCESS TO/FROM CRAZY HORSE CANYON RD. TEMPORARILY CLOSED OVERNIGHT ON OCTOBER 3

Caltrans work on the Prunedale Improvement Project will temporarily close off access to and from U.S. Highway 101 and Crazy Horse Canyon Road on Thursday, October 3, beginning at 7:30 p.m.; the access will reopen at 6:00 a.m. Friday, October 4.
 
There is a detour available.
 
This temporary closure is to allow crews to safely conduct grinding and pavement work on Crazy Horse Canyon Road.
 
During this closure:
·         Emergency responders will be able to use the Crazy Horse Canyon exit.
 
For all non-emergency vehicles there will be:
·         No right turn from northbound Hwy. 101 on to Crazy Horse Canyon;
·         No left turn from southbound Hwy. 101 on to Crazy Horse Canyon;
·         No right turn from Crazy Horse Canyon on to northbound Hwy. 101;
·         No left turn from Crazy Horse Canyon to southbound Hwy. 101.
 
·         Traffic will be able to access Crazy Horse Canyon Rd. via the following detour:
o   Exit Hwy. 101 at Boronda Rd.
o   Head east on Boronda Rd. to San Juan Grade Road.
o   Turn left on San Juan Grade Road and follow it to Crazy Horse Canyon Road.
o   Turn left on Crazy Horse Canyon Road.
o   Please see map (included with this release) for the detour route.
 
·         Access closes at 7: 30 p.m. on Thursday, October 3
·        Access reopens at 6 a.m. on Friday, October 4.

Road and lane closures for Sept. 29 - Oct. 6


Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, September 29, through Sunday, October 6, 2013 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1/Rocky Creek Viaduct Project:  Sept. 30 – Oct. 4.
  • Daytime roadwork on Highway 1 continues next week from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 through Friday, Oct. 4.
  • There will be NO OVERNIGHT CLOSURES OR NIGHT ROADWORK next week, Sunday, Sept. 29 through Thursday, Oct. 3.
Highway 1 at Rocky Creek has one-way signalized traffic control 24/7. Traffic will be stopped for 10 minutes at a time during daytime and nighttime roadwork.

Highway 1 – Big Sur Coast:  Sept. 30 – Oct. 4
  • Drainage work on Highway 1 between Lime Creek Bridge and Partington Ridge Road from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 12 minutes.
Highway 1 – Big Sur Coast:  Oct. 1 – Oct. 4
  • Pavement repair at two locations on Highway 1 from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    • Torre Canyon Bridge to Grimes Canyon
    • Molera Park Entrance to Hurricane Point
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 12 minutes.
Highway 1 – North of Moss Landing:  Sept. 30
  • One-day guardrail work on Highway 1 between Salinas Road and Trafton Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 68 – Toro Park Area:  Sept. 29 – Oct. 4
  • Night time bridge work on Highway 68 between Reservation Road and El Toro Creek Bridge from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway – 68 Salinas:  Sept. 30 – Oct. 3
  • Day time utility work on Highway 68 between Oak Street and Pajaro Street from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.
Highway 101 – South County:  Oct. 1 – 4
  • Day time crack and seal work on Highway 101 in South Monterey County from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Highway 101 – Gonzales and Soledad:  Sept. 30 – Oct. 4
  • Daytime drainage and electrical work on Highway 101 from La Gloria Road to Arroyo Seco Road will result in alternating lane closures—northbound and southbound—between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Gonzales:  Sept. 30 – Oct. 4
  • Daytime Bridge work on Highway 101 at the 5th Street Bridge from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Salinas to Santa Clara County:  Sept. 30 – Oct. 4  
  • Night time pavement marker replacement on Highway 101 between Airport Blvd and the Santa Clara County Line from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

  • Night time Slab Replacement on Highway 101 in King City from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

  • Nighttime work on Highway 101 at Crazy Horse Canyon Road will cause alternating lane closures in each direction between 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • The closure is needed for crews to conduct work on the median barrier.

Road and lane closures for Sept. 15 - Sept. 22


Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, September 15, through Sunday, September 22, 2013 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1/Rocky Creek Viaduct Project:  Sept. 16 – Sept 20.
  • Daytime roadwork on Highway 1 continues next week from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16 through Friday, Sept. 20.
  • There will be TWO OVERNIGHT FULL CLOSURES: Monday, Sept. 16 and Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 9 pm to 7 am.
  • Tuesday night’s full closure may not be necessary. Caltrans will send an update as soon as confirmation is received either way.
  • No other night work or closures are scheduled for next week. 
Highway 1 at Rocky Creek has one-way signalized traffic control 24/7. Traffic will be stopped for 10 minutes at a time during daytime and nighttime roadwork.

Highway 1 Yankee Point:  Sept. 18
  • A one-day pavement repair on Hwy 1, at Yankee Point Drive and Mal Paso from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 1 Carmel:  Sept. 14
  • A one-day emergency electrical pole repair project on southbound Highway 1, between Highway 68 (Holman Highway) and Carpenter Street, from 6 am to 12 pm.
  • Work will cause the closure of the #2 (slow) lane.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.
Highway 1 Monterey: Sept. 17 – 18
·        Two one-day grinding operations on Highway 1 will take place next Tuesday, September 17 and Wednesday, September 18 at the following locations:
o    Tuesday, Sept. 17, between Fremont Street and Casa Verde Way.
o    Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Del Monte Ave.
·         Work hours are from 9 am to 11 am each day.
·         Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 to 15 minutes

Highway 101 – San Ardo:  Sept. 16 – 20
  • Day time sealing work on Highway 101 between San Ardo and Paris Valley Road from of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Lockwood:  Sept. 17
  • One-day bridge work on Highway 101 between Lockwood/San Lucas Rd and 198 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – Gonzales and Soledad:  Sept. 16 – 20
  • Daytime drainage and survey work on Highway 101 from La Gloria Road to Arroyo Seco Road will result in alternating lane closures—northbound and southbound—between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 101 – 146 Off Ramps:  Sept. 20
  • One-day electrical work on at Highway 146 and Highway 101 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. will affect traffic existing Highway 101.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Prunedale Improvement Project – Ralph Lane to Pesante Road:  Sept. 16 – Sept. 20
  • Nighttime work on Highway 101 from Ralph Lane to Pesante Road will close one lane each direction between 7:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.

***ADVANCED TENTATIVE NOTIFICATION: THERE WILL BE TWO OVERNIGHT FULL CLOSURES: Monday, Sept. 16 and Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 9 pm to 7 am to pour the east side of the viaduct deck.   • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 12 minutes.
Highway 1 Carmel and Carmel Highlands: Sept. 10 – 11
·        Two one-day pavement repairs on Highway 1 will take place next Tuesday, September 10 and Wednesday, September 11 at the following locations:
o    Tuesday, Sept. 10: On southbound Hwy. 1 at Ribera Road near Carmel
o    Wednesday, Sept. 11: On southbound Hwy. 1 between Yankee Point Drive and
                        Mal Paso Road near Carmel Highlands
·         Roadwork hours are from 9 am to 2 pm each day.
·         Work consists of one-way reversing traffic control with flagging.
·         Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes

Highway 68 – Reservation Road:  Sept. 8 – 13
  • Night time bridge work on Highway 68 at Reservation Road will result in lane closures between the hours of  8 p.m. and 5 a.m
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
Highway 68 – Rommie Lane:  Sept. 9 – 11
  • Utility work on Hwy 68, between Romie lane and Maple Street, will close one lane between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 5 minutes.     
Highway 101 – King City:  Sept. 8 – 13
  • Night time road work on Highway 101 near King City between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

Prunedale Improvement Project – Espinosa Road:  Sept. 9 – 13
  • Work on the Prunedale Improvement Project will affect traffic on Espinosa Road, Russell Road, North Main Street, and Harrison Road from September 9 through September 13.
  • Construction on the new HWY 101 structure over Espinosa Road will close one lane of Espinosa Road between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic on Espinosa Road; warning signs will be in place along Espinosa Road, Russell Road, North Main Street, and Harrison Road.
  • Motorists should expect delays of up to 15 minutes.
San Juan Road Interchange – Dunbarton Road: Sept. 9 – 13
·        Daytime drainage work on Dunbarton Road will close the right curve from eastbound San Juan Road on to Dunbarton Road between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
·        Motorists will still be able to make the right onto Dunbarton Road on the other side of the gore/island; however, this turn is sharper.

Highway 146: Sept. 10 – 12  
  • Daytime pavement work on Highway 146 from Rubion Drive to Fabry Road between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday Sept. 10, through Thursday, Sept. 12.
  • Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.
