Here
are the major scheduled road and
lane closures for the areas between Salinas and North Monterey County from Saturday, May 12, through Sunday, May 13,
2012– newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is
weather-dependent.
Temporary Detour on Blanco Road: Saturday, May 12.
·
Monterey County Public Works will have traffic
controls on Blanco Road, from Luther Way to Research Dr., on Saturday, May 12,
between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
o
Crews will be applying a fog seal on
the road; lane closures are to avoid spraying vehicles traveling in the
adjacent lane.
o
The work may detour traffic onto Davis-Reservation for a
couple of hours in each direction;
o
There will be signs on the road to advice
motorists of the detour route.
Prunedale Improvement Project: May 14 – May
18
·
Granite Construction, Caltrans’ contractor for the
Prunedale Improvement Project, will be repairing the pavement in several areas
of HWY 101 throughout the week of May 14 – May 18.
o
Crews will be working at night, between 7:30 p.m. and 6
a.m.;
o
Work areas on Hwy 101 extend from Espinosa Road to Crazy
Horse Canyon;
o
Some lane closures will be necessary in both directions;
o
One lane will remain open at all times.
Prunedale Improvement Project: Temporary
Closure of Harrison Rd. Continues
·
On May 7 Caltrans closed Harrison Rd. – from Russell Rd. to Martines
Rd.; and the intersection at North Main St. and Russell Rd. for approximately
four months to all but local traffic and emergency response vehicles.
This closure is
necessary to install new drainage systems, new signals, and rebuild the entire
roadway. All businesses and places of
worship along Harrison Rd. and North Main St. are open during this
construction.
Construction
will go through September 9; during this time:
· Harrison Rd., a portion of North Main St., and a
portion of Russell Rd. will be dirt and gravel;
· Emergency response vehicles will have access at all
times;
· Local traffic, including those going to businesses
in the area, will have access;
· The speed limit in the construction
area will be reduced to 25 M.P.H.;
· There will be traffic delays of up to 20 minutes –
especially along Harrison Rd.;
· Water trucks will be used to keep
dust down;
· There will be construction noise
during the day, with crews generally working from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Prunedale
Improvement Project: Temporary Closure of Cross Rd.
·
On May 10, Cross Rd. in Prunedale was closed to through
traffic for approximately three months; the road is open to residents and
emergency responders.
Caltrans is removing the pavement and making improvements along
Cross Rd. and Reese Circle.
o
Throughout this construction Cross Rd. will be
open for residents, but will be closed to through traffic.
o
Residents can use Pollock Lane to access
Pesante Rd. and Hwy 101
o
Detour signs will be
posted throughout the area.
o
During this period Granite
Construction crews will be working from
7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.
Hwy 1/Salinas Road Project: Temporary
Closure
·
Salinas Road access to Highway 1 is TEMPORARILY CLOSED IN
BOTH
DIRECTIONS.
o The closure
began on May 10 and is expected to last one week.
o During the closure crews will be constructing the
connections to
the new overpass.
o Businesses along Salinas Road will remain open during the
closure.
·
This means traffic on HWY 1 will not have access to
Salinas Road
and will have to use the posted Hwy
129 Detour to access Salinas Road.
o BOTH north and
southbound HWY 1 traffic will access Salinas Rd. by:
§ Exiting at
Route 129 (Riverside Dr.),
§ Following
Riverside Dr. to Porter Dr.,
§ Turning right
on Porter Dr.,
§ Turning right on
Salinas Rd.
·
Hwy 129 Detour to access Salinas Road will be clearly marked
with
detour signs.
Highway 68: April 22 – May 2012
·
Daytime work along HWY 68 and San Benancio continues; this work will go on through May 2012. Drivers
should be alert. Most work will be done behind the concrete barriers that are
set up, but minor delays can be expected.
Pipeline Replacement Project:
April – May 2012
·
PG&E will be replacing a pipe along San Juan Road,
between Murphy Road and San Miguel Canyon Road.
o Work hours will be between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
o Work days will be Monday through Saturday
o This work will result in some lane closures and traffic
delays.
Remember: The speed limit on Hwy 101 through the PIP construction area is 55 m.p.h. - and it's a double fine zone.
