A bird's-eye view of the PIP!

View of the new northbound lanes of Hwy 101 at the Russell/Espinosa crossing. The bridge that you see will carry traffic over Russell and Espinosa Roads - removing left turns across the highway.

The new Sala Road interchange. The bridge you see going across will connect traffic on Harrison Road with a safe, loop on-ramp on to southbound Hwy 101.

Toward the left you see the new Prunedale South Road extension, which will go over Hwy 101 and provide a new, safer connection between the two sides of Prunedale. When this section opens (which should be in early 2013!) those traveling on local roads will no longer have to get on the highway to get to shopping, appointments, etc.; they can take this new over-crossing and reach neighborhoods and businesses on either side of 101.

Another view of the new Prunedale South Road extension over Hwy 101.

At San Miguel Canyon Road the southbound off-ramp has been widened to create a left turn lane. When this area is complete (which should be in early 2013!) traffic coming off southbound 101 at San Miguel Canyon Rd. will be able to turn left at a signalized intersection.

The bridge at San Miguel Canyon Rd. is also being widened to accommodate more traffic.

This view gives you an idea of the amazing amount of dirt that has been moved to construct the new Crazy Horse Canyon/Echo Valley Road interchange. Approximately 200,000 cubic yards! Contractors are trying to get as much done as possible before rainy season hits. This includes building up the east side of 101 using dirt from west side; Granite’s use of a temporary bridge to move dirt has reduced the number of dirt hauling trucks going across 101.

Another view of what will be the new Crazy Horse Canyon/Echo Valley Road interchange. Construction in this area will not be completed until 2015.
